Athene Donald
Dame Athene Margaret Donald, DBE, FRS (born 15 May 1953) is a distinguished British physicist. She is Professor of Experimental Physics in the University of Cambridge\'s Department of Physics, and a member of the University Council.
In 2008 it was announced that she would be one of the five recipients of the 2009 L\'Oreal/UNESCO Women in Science award. She also won the UKRCâs Women of Outstanding Achievement\'s Lifetime Achievement Award in 2011. She was appointed Dame Commander of the Order of the British Empire (DBE) in the 2010 Queen\'s Birthday Honours. She will be receiving an Honorary Doctorate of Science from the University of East Anglia in July 2012
